The involvement and engagement of the community is critical to enable the Centre for BME Health to achieve the vision “to reduce ethnic health inequalities”.
The Centre will deliver a multidisciplinary and community-led approach to identify and support new research ideas and increase community participation in health and social care research.
Our vision is that involvement and engagement will be embedded across the work of The University of Leicester and the Centre for BME health, with patient, public and partner perspectives being integrated into all aspects of the research process. The motivation is to ensure that ethnicity and health inequalities are on the agenda for research and service providers.
Fundamentally our purpose is to increase the involvement with research and establish patient, public and partner needs and opinions in order to influence the research agenda for patient and service user benefit and to provide a platform for patients and the public to be directly involved in the whole research process including the priority setting agenda, project design and implementation.
